night, wear reflective clothing and use a white front light and a red

obstacles in your path. |
Traffic Flow
 | Always keep to the
right. |
 | Be courteous to
pedestrians, they have the right-of-way. |
 | When riding in a
group, ride in a single file line. |
 | Move off to the side
of the path when stopped to avoid blocking traffic. |
 | Always signal your
moves, use both hand and audible signals. |
Be
Responsible
 | Stay alert at all
times. |
 | Never go alone. |
 | Tell friends or
family where you will be. |
 | Follow the paths and
do not bike anywhere that is unfamiliar. |
 | Carry coins or a cell
phone for phone calls. |
 | Report suspicious or
dangerous behaviors to the police. Call 911 for
emergencies. |
Before You
Ride
 | Drink plenty of water. |
 | Make sure your bike is the right size for you.
You should comfortably be able to reach the pedals, handlebars and
brakes. |
 | Make sure your bike is safe. Check: |
- Air – check the air in your tires
- Brakes – make sure your brakes work
- Cables – check that all cables are attached properly
